Not about. With the right cartridge that rifle has taken all the big boys at one time or another.

lol...405 gr. FTMFW......yes I shoot them, and enjoy the heck out of them....44.6gr IMR 4198@ around 1890 + or - fps....It works well in my guide gun...

For Alaska I would go with the Belt Mountain Punch rounds. Either the ones loaded by Grizzly, or buy the components and load them up yourself.

I will tell you what. The 1895 is my favorite hog gun.  I shoot Hornady Leverevolution 325 gr. ammo and it has been an outstanding performer from the platform in terms of terminal performance and accuracy.  If you give up reloading, I don't think you can go wrong with the Leverevolution ammo.  Plus, as new ammo goes, it is on the inexpensive end of the spectrum for hunting ammo.
