Here is why we cant shoot on less than 10 acres in Comal County,

http://www.co.comal.tx.us/Public_Notices/Regulating_Firearms_Subdivision.pdf

And here is why we cant hunt with archery equipment on less than 10 acres (though target shooting is not mentioned)

http://www.co.comal.tx.us/Public_Notices/Regulating_Bowhunting_Subdivision.pdf

Neither of these rulings seem to have a bearing on Comal airgun hunting. And it land area requirements dont seem to be mentioned in the state guidelines here.

So unless there is new ruling that I cant find in the county database, we here in Comal County, (and barring city ordinances, not an issue for me as i am in an unincorporated area of the county) should be good to go for backyard deer action this season right?

Air Guns, the fancy kind at least Pre Charged Pneumatic rifles are now a legal method for harvesting deer and turkey. There are some really nice weapons out there in this category.

Now with archery I know that even if you are in an area that you can shoot a bow or crossbow in your back yard at targets int he backyard, in order to hunt there remains a 10 acre requirement, thus keeping me from harvesting neighborhood does in my back yard. It doesn't seem to be a requirement (at least yet) for an air rifle, or PCP arrow gun. What do ya'll legal scholars think on this?
I will probably end up calling the game warden on this one, because I might be buying a .45 or .50 caliber air rifle for just this purpose, and would be a shame to drop 700 bucks on a hunting setup to be relegated to public lands or my non-existant lease. I have been taking squirrel and unprotected bird species with a .22 or .177 rifles (with a muzzle velocity above 700 fps ofcourse C:-)) for ages.  Makes for good sport and good eating without having to load up and head out of town. This is news I have been waiting for for ages, and am worried it is to good to be true!

Anyone else excited about this development? O:Pc

Dunno how I missed this.....unfortunately, I don't have a good answer for you.  If we knew about where you were, someone might be able to suggest a trusted shop you could ask.

I’m picking this gun up in a few weeks. I’m wondering who I should buy a 20moa rail from? Running an 8.5x32x50 scope. Seems like a lot of the reviews I have read looked liked guys were leaning towards NF or Warne rails. Some guys say you can get a really good one for under $100 and others won’t mess with anything under $150.

I’m not sure where to buy what I need.

Nice trip, looks like!  Nothing I hate more than wild pigs - they tear things up like there's no tomorrow!

Awesome shots. You going to turn in the tails? I heard TPWD is offering $5 per tail bounties on those porkers

I got invited out to Centerville, Tx to help eradicate some hogs. Great guys who have access to lots of property in the area. We recovered 22 hogs that night, including a 275 lb rhino of a boar. Good times. Unfortunately I didnt get video of a lot of the shooting, but here's a couple volleys that I did manage to get video of.
